If you’re into off-dry whites for sipping as an aperitif or as I said above, with Asian foods, it’s hard to beat this blend from Diageo for four bucks. There’s no wood here that I can detect a perfect accompaniment for Asian fare had it tonight with Indian Korma chicken with brown basmati rice, spicy lime chutney and our homegrown Asian pear sweet chutney-went perfectly. For years I belonged to the Central Coast’s Wild Horse Winery Club and always loved their 100% dry Malvasia Bianca. Reminds me of similar white blends like California’s Folie a’ Deux Menage a’ Trois and Washington State’s Waterbrook Melange Blanc brilliant pale golden with a very fragrant, fruity nose of pear, a bit of hay, some clove, and a little orange peel there’s some residual sugar here-just enough to take some of the bite out of the higher alcohol content there’s lip-smacking texture and acidity and the flavors of the grape varieties involved are blended together very well I don’t taste much of the Chardonnay or Gewurz, but the Sauvignon Blanc (hay/grass) and Malvasia (sweet perfume) are very identifiable for me. Sauvignon Blanc, Malvasia Bianca, Chardonnay, and Gewurztraminer
